From Select Button to Pokémon Works: A New Chapter for Pokémon Sleep

Launched in March, Pokémon Works, a subsidiary of The Pokémon Company, has now assumed the reins of Pokémon Sleep's development and future updates from Select Button. An in-app announcement (via machine translation) confirmed the transition, indicating a gradual handover of development and operational duties from Select Button to Pokémon Works.

Currently, this announcement is primarily visible within the Japanese version of the Pokémon Sleep app. The impact on the global version remains unconfirmed, as the news isn't yet reflected in the app's global news section.

Pokémon Works' portfolio remains relatively unpublicized. However, according to Representative Director Takuya Iwasaki, the company stems from a collaboration between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd.

Furthermore, Pokémon Works shares a Tokyo office location with ILCA, the studio behind the 2021 Pokémon remakes, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and a co-developer of Pokémon HOME. Iwasaki also highlighted Pokémon Works' contribution to Pokémon HOME's development.

While their previous Pokémon-related work is limited, Pokémon Works aims to "create an experience that makes Pokémon more real... so that everyone can enjoy meeting and adventuring with Pokémon." The specific implementation of this vision within Pokémon Sleep remains to be seen.
