Cyberpunk 2077’s Idris Elba Hopes For Cyberpunk Live-Action With Keanu Reeves

Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, pitches a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action film with himself and Keanu Reeves. Elba, in an interview with ScreenRant, expressed his excitement about the prospect, stating that a live-action adaptation featuring his character, Solomon Reed, and Reeves' Johnny Silverhand would be "Whoa."

This isn't a completely unfounded hope. Variety reported in October 2023 that a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project is underway, with CD Projekt Red partnering with Anonymous Content. While updates have been scarce since the announcement, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the live-action The Witcher series suggests a live-action Cyberpunk adaptation is a viable possibility.

Beyond the live-action film, the Cyberpunk franchise continues to expand. A prequel manga to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, has launched its first chapter. Written by Bartosz Sztybor, it focuses on Rebecca and Pilar before joining Maine's crew. The manga is currently available in several languages, with an English release date yet to be announced. A Blu-ray release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is also planned for 2025, and a new animated series is in development.

CD Projekt Red is clearly committed to expanding the Cyberpunk universe across various media. Fans can look forward to more exciting developments in the coming year.
