As we head into the weekend it's about time I start wrapping up some of the stuff we had on the backburner. And today's subject is one I'm glad I've left so that it can sit for people to spot over the weekend. Alterworld is an upcoming, low-poly indie puzzler that takes you across space in search of your lost love.

Sounds a little familiar right? Well, what makes Alterworlds stand out to me is not the plot, but the gameplay and aesthetic. Boasting the aforementioned low-poly, cel-shaded aesthetic you can see how they've drawn inspiration from artists like Moebius to deliver a refreshingly retro but still pleasing visual palette.

Gameplay-wise, the top-down perspective hides the fact that this is a puzzler with plenty to do. This allows you to jump, shoot, and drag objects as you make your way through each distinctive planet, ranging from rocky moons to dinosaur-filled paradises.

I think the only complaint I might have about Alterworlds would be the somewhat clunky narration for the tutorial, but aside from that this is a puzzle game that I think stands out quite a bit. I'm definitely interested to see what Idealplay does with it, and especially how it'll play when it does hit mobile.

But, you may be asking, aren't we being a bit premature about all this? After all, this is only a 3 minute demon. Well, yes, but if you haven't noticed already, we like to be on top of the newest stuff.
