Midjiwan has unleashed a significant update for The Battle of Polytopia: a complete overhaul of the Aquarion Tribe. This marks a major refresh for the game's first special tribe, originally introduced in 2017.
Aquarion's Aquatic Transformation
The Aquarion receive a dramatic visual and functional upgrade. Land units now boast mermaid tails, granting them amphibious capabilities. They move effortlessly across water but are slower on land. This update introduces flooded terrain, allowing land and naval units to occupy the same spaces for the first time.
Buildings have also adapted to their aquatic environment. Construction on water is now possible, with Lost Cities nestled within deep-sea ruins, providing ideal strategic bases. A new structure, the Atoll, connects water cities, eliminating the need for roads. Aqua Crops return, permanently enhancing the Aquarion's resource management. These function similarly to land-based crops.
New Aquatic Combatants
Prepare for encounters with new sea creatures. Sharks provide surprise attacks, puffers offer long-range bombardments, and jellyfish unleash electric shocks. Returning favorites, the Trident and Crab, also feature enhancements; Crabs now flood the tiles they traverse, synergizing perfectly with the mermaid-tailed troops. See them in action!
Revitalized Gameplay
Midjiwan has successfully revitalized the Aquarion Tribe. Note that Lost Cities appear at level 3 and include an initial wall.
