Here’s the official description:
In Civilization 7 - VR, the world of Civilization comes alive in an unprecedented way. The game map unfolds on a Command Table, allowing players to view it from various angles—either from above or close up to appreciate the detailed buildings and units, reminiscent of a tabletop game. Players will navigate their civilization's journey and interact directly with iconic world leaders around the Command Table, experiencing their reactions as alliances are formed or wars declared through the Ages.
Civilization 7 - VR offers gameplay in both immersive virtual reality and mixed reality, with the option to switch between the two seamlessly. In virtual reality mode, players find themselves in a majestic museum, overlooking a vista tailored to their chosen leader. In mixed reality, the Command Table integrates with the player's real-world environment. The Archives, a special room within the museum, showcases detailed dioramas of your gameplay achievements in both virtual and mixed reality modes. Alongside single-player, Civilization 7 - VR supports online multiplayer, allowing up to four players on Meta Quest 3 and 3S to compete for global domination.
The base version of Civilization 7 is currently accessible on PC and consoles for those who opted for advanced access. However, early players have voiced concerns on Steam, particularly about the user interface, limited map variety, and the absence of expected features at launch. Firaxis has actively responded to this feedback, committing to enhancing the UI, adding team-based multiplayer options for cooperative play, and introducing a broader range of map types, among other improvements.
In an interview with IGN before the release of third quarter financial results, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed the mixed reception of Civilization 7. While acknowledging some negative reviews from both press and players, Zelnick expressed confidence that the "legacy Civ audience" would grow to appreciate the game more over time. He described Civilization 7’s initial performance as "very encouraging."
