Grand Theft Auto VI remains on track for a Fall 2025 launch. During their Q3 Earnings Conference Call on February 7th, 2025, Take-Two Interactive reaffirmed this timeline.

CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed strong confidence, while acknowledging the inherent risks associated with game development timelines. He stated, "Look, there's always a risk of slippage, and I think as soon as you say words like 'absolutely,' you jinx things." Despite this caveat, Zelnick emphasized their positive outlook, stating they "feel really good about it" regarding the Fall 2025 window. While remaining tight-lipped on specific development details, he highlighted Rockstar's dedication to excellence and the intense competitive landscape.

Zelnick highlighted the significant potential of 2025 for Take-Two, emphasizing a robust release schedule. He noted the Early Access launch of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII (with a full release on February 11th), the planned Summer release of Mafia: The Old Country, the Fall release of Grand Theft Auto VI, and a Borderlands 4 launch before year's end. He expressed considerable optimism about the commercial success of these titles and their long-term impact on the company and the industry. Take-Two projects sequential increases and record-level net bookings in fiscal years 2026 and 2027.

GTA 5's Continued Dominance

The Grand Theft Auto franchise continues its reign, with GTA 5 surpassing 210 million units sold worldwide. GTA Online also delivered a strong quarter, boosted by the "Agents of Sabotage" holiday update and continued growth of the GTA+ membership program (up 10% year-over-year).

Other Take-Two titles also performed exceptionally well. NBA 2K25 exceeded 7 million units sold, showcasing increased player engagement (Recurrent Consumer Spending up over 30%, Daily Active Users up nearly 20%, and Monthly Active Users up nearly 10%). Red Dead Redemption 2, with over 70 million units sold, continues to thrive, benefiting from ongoing updates to Red Dead Online, including the popular Halloween Pass. The game recently reached its highest concurrent player count on Steam (99,993 players according to SteamDB).

Dispelling Rumors about GTA 5's Trevor

Speculation surrounding Steven Ogg, the actor who portrayed Trevor in GTA 5, and his supposed dislike for the character has been addressed. In an interview on the Inside You podcast, Ogg clarified that the rumors are untrue. He explained that his aversion was to being called "Trevor" outside of his acting role, not to the character itself. He affirmed his positive experience and ongoing friendship with his co-stars. While he previously mused about Trevor's potential (and demise) in GTA 6, he confirmed no involvement in the game's production.

While a Fall 2025 release is anticipated for GTA 6, no official release date has been announced. Stay tuned for further updates.
