Netflix Cancels Six Upcoming Projects

Netflix Games is canceling five upcoming titles, adding to the recent cancellation of Don't Starve Together. Tales of the Shire, Rotwood, Compass Point: West, Lab Rat, and Thirsty Suitors will no longer be released on the platform, either indefinitely shelved or slated for release elsewhere. This news comes from What's on Netflix, citing an internal source.

This decision reflects a broader shift in Netflix Games' strategy, as indicated by a recent investor call. The streaming giant appears to be prioritizing narrative-driven games that align more closely with its existing video content, similar to its successful Netflix Stories anthology.

This news is somewhat disappointing, especially the cancellation of Tales of the Shire, a title many anticipated given its association with the popular Lord of the Rings franchise. This suggests that only Netflix-branded or directly tie-in games are secure from future cancellations.

While the future of Netflix Games remains uncertain, there are still several excellent titles currently available. Now might be a good time to explore our ranking of the top 10 best games on Netflix Games before more titles are removed.
