Nintendo has officially refuted claims by American accessory maker Genki regarding a purported Nintendo Switch 2 showcase at CES 2025. The company stated that images and videos circulating online are not official and that Genki was never provided with any Switch 2 hardware.
In statements to CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper, Nintendo explicitly declared that the 3D-printed Switch 2 mockup presented by Genki at CES 2025 is unofficial. The company confirmed that it did not supply Genki with any Switch 2 hardware.
Genki, a manufacturer of electronics and video game console accessories (including controllers, SSDs, and chargers), generated significant buzz at CES 2025 by showcasing the mockup and reportedly sharing a claimed "real" Switch 2 unit and release date with attendees and journalists.
Interestingly, Genki's website even features a dedicated page for Nintendo Switch 2 accessories, complete with a detailed animated mockup of the console. This further fueled speculation, despite Nintendo's own silence on the matter beyond confirming backwards compatibility with the original Switch and promising future announcements. Given this recent development, an official Nintendo Switch 2 announcement may be imminent.
