Pokemon TCG Pocket Tier List – Best Decks & Cards (December 2024)

This tier list ranks the best decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket, a more casual and beginner-friendly version of the main Trading Card Game. While simpler, a meta still exists, with some decks proving superior.

Table of Contents

  • S-Tier Decks
  • A-Tier Decks
  • B-Tier Decks

S-Tier Decks

Gyarados Ex/Greninja Combo: This deck utilizes a synergistic strategy. Druddigon, with its 100 HP, acts as a sturdy defender and inflicts chip damage without Energy investment. Simultaneously, Greninja delivers additional chip damage and serves as a secondary attacker. Finally, Gyarados Ex delivers the knockout blow once the opponent is weakened.

  • Key Cards: Froakie x2, Frogadier x2, Greninja x2, Druddigon x2, Magikarp x2, Gyarados Ex x2, Misty x2, Leaf x2, Professor’s Research x2, Poké Ball x2

Pikachu Ex: Currently the top deck, Pikachu Ex boasts incredible speed and aggression. Its 90 damage output for only two Energy is exceptionally efficient.

  • Key Cards: Pikachu Ex x2, Zapdos Ex x2, Blitzle x2, Zebstrika x2, Poké Ball x2, Potion x2, X Speed x2, Professor’s Research x2, Sabrina x2, Giovanni x2

Raichu Surge: While slightly less consistent than the pure Pikachu Ex deck, Raichu and Lt. Surge provide powerful surprise attacks. Zapdos Ex offers a reliable alternative attacker. Energy discarding from Raichu is mitigated by Lt. Surge's ability. X Speed facilitates strategic retreats.

  • Key Cards: Pikachu Ex x2, Pikachu x2, Raichu x2, Zapdos Ex x2, Potion x2, X Speed x2, Poké Ball x2, Professor’s Research x2, Sabrina x2, Lt. Surge x2

A-Tier Decks

Celebi Ex and Serperior Combo: The Mythical Island expansion boosted Grass-type decks. Serperior's Jungle Totem ability doubles Energy on Grass Pokémon, synergizing perfectly with Celebi Ex's coin flip mechanic for high damage potential. Dhelmise provides an additional offensive option. However, Fire-type decks can easily counter this strategy.

  • Key Cards: Snivy x2, Servine x2, Serperior x2, Celebi Ex x2, Dhelmise x2, Erika x2, Professor’s Research x2, Poké Ball x2, X Speed x2, Potion x2, Sabrina x2

Koga Poison: This deck focuses on poisoning opponents and then exploiting their weakened state with Scolipede's high damage output. Weezing and Whirlipede aid in poison application, while Koga facilitates strategic Pokémon placement. Leaf provides retreat cost reduction. Tauros serves as a powerful finisher against Ex decks. This deck excels against Mewtwo Ex decks.

  • Key Cards: Venipede x2, Whirlipede x2, Scolipede x2, Koffing x2, Weezing x2, Tauros, Poké Ball x2, Koga x2, Sabrina, Leaf x2

Mewtwo Ex/Gardevoir Combo: Mewtwo Ex is supported by Gardevoir. The goal is to rapidly evolve Ralts to Gardevoir to power up Mewtwo Ex's Psydrive attack. Jynx provides stalling and early-game offense.

  • Key Cards: Mewtwo Ex x2, Ralts x2, Kirlia x2, Gardevoir x2, Jynx x2, Potion x2, X Speed x2, Poké Ball x2, Professor’s Research x2, Sabrina x2, Giovanni x2

B-Tier Decks

Charizard Ex: Charizard Ex deals massive damage, but its reliance on specific card draws makes it less consistent. Moltres Ex aids in rapid Energy accumulation for Charizard Ex.

  • Key Cards: Charmander x2, Charmeleon x2, Charizard Ex x2, Moltres Ex x2, Potion x2, X Speed x2, Poké Ball x2, Professor’s Research x2, Sabrina x2, Giovanni x2

Colorless Pidgeot: This deck utilizes basic Pokémon for consistent value. Rattata and Raticate offer early-game damage, while Pidgeot's ability forces opponent switches, disrupting their strategy.

  • Key Cards: Pidgey x2, Pidgeotto x2, Pidgeot, Poké Ball x2, Professor’s Research x2, Red Card, Sabrina, Potion x2, Rattata x2, Raticate x2, Kangaskhan, Farfetch’d x2

This tier list represents a snapshot of the current Pokémon TCG Pocket meta. The relative strengths of decks may shift with future updates and card releases.
