Resident Evil's mastermind, Shinji Mikami, recently expressed strong support for a Killer7 sequel during a presentation with Goichi "Suda51" Suda. This sparked excitement among fans of the cult classic action-adventure game.
Suda51 shared Mikami's enthusiasm, suggesting a sequel was a possibility, even playfully tossing around potential titles like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."
Killer7, a 2005 GameCube and PlayStation 2 title, is a unique blend of horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top style. The game follows Harman Smith, a man capable of manifesting seven distinct personalities, each with unique abilities. Despite its cult following, a sequel has remained elusive. Even after a 2018 PC remaster, Suda51 voiced interest in revisiting the original vision.
Suda51 proposed a "Complete Edition" of Killer7, an idea Mikami jokingly dismissed. However, the discussion revealed that the original game's concept included extensive unused dialogue for the character Coyote, suggesting content for a potential remaster.
The possibility of a sequel or a complete edition has generated considerable fan excitement. While no firm commitments were made, the developers' enthusiasm has ignited hope for the future of Killer7.
The final decision, according to Suda51, will be between "Killer7: Beyond" and the Complete Edition.
