The first step is to verify the integrity of your game files. Ensure Steam isn't in offline mode.
Steam will scan and replace any corrupted or missing files. Retry launching the game. If successful, the issue is resolved. If not, proceed to the next steps.
Outdated or incompatible mods, especially those not updated for Unreal Engine 5 (post-July 2024), frequently trigger this error. To remove mods:
ReadyorNot\Content\Paks
.mod.io
folder. This will disable all mods. Try running the game. If it works, proceed to step 3.
Reinstall mods individually to identify the culprit. Use Nexus Mods, Mod.io, or your preferred mod source. Check each mod's update date. Only install mods updated after July 2024 (the UE5 update). Install one mod, test the game, and repeat. If the error returns, the last installed mod is the problem; you'll need to skip it. Mods not updated for UE5 are incompatible.
If all else fails, a complete reinstall of Ready or Not might be necessary. While less common, hard drive corruption could also be a factor. However, outdated mods are the most frequent cause of this error.
Ready or Not is available on PC.
