The new Call of Duty Zombies map, The Tomb, introduces a returning Wonder Weapon: the Staff of Ice, originally featured in Black Ops II's Origins. This guide details how to acquire it.
While the Staff of Ice, like its Black Ops II counterpart, requires three parts to craft, you can, indeed, get lucky and find it in The Tomb's Mystery Box. However, this relies entirely on chance, with the Ray Gun also competing for a spot. Using the "Wunderbar!" GobbleGum improves your odds, but doesn't guarantee success. For a guaranteed acquisition, follow the crafting steps below.
The first component, the Monocle, drops from the first Shock Mimic you eliminate in a match. Simply interact with it to add it to your inventory.
The Head Piece and Staff components require similar puzzle-solving and lockdown survival. They can be obtained in any order.
To acquire the Head Piece, locate the cave painting in the Neolithic Catacombs. If the wall isn't illuminated, use the Dark Aether lanterns—their purple flames will respawn after a short time. Once the lantern closest to the wall is lit, the Roman numerals (I-X) on the wall will become visible. Shoot them in ascending order. Incorrect shots allow you to resume from the last correctly hit numeral. Use a standard bullet weapon to avoid issues with splash or explosive damage. Completing this sequence triggers a lockdown; survive it to obtain the Head Piece. If lanterns haven't spawned, visit the Dark Aether Nexus and return.
The Staff piece is obtained similarly. In the Tombs room, manipulate the lanterns to illuminate the Bull Mural (head facing left). Shoot the Roman numerals (I-VIII) in ascending order. A lockdown ensues; survive to claim the Staff piece.
Once you've collected all three parts, proceed to the Dark Aether Nexus. Place the components on the central structure. A wave of enemies will attack; defend the Staff until it's fully assembled. Using perks, upgraded weapons, and GobbleGums like Kill Joy and Free Fire is highly recommended.
Congratulations! You now possess the Staff of Ice.
