Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 million for cancer prevention.
The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation (PCF), surpassing the 2024 total by over $100,000. This annual winter speedrunning marathon featured diverse games, including standout performances like a Crazy Taxi run.
AGDQ, a major event hosted by Games Done Quick (GDQ), complements its summer counterpart, Summer Games Done Quick. GDQ also organizes smaller events throughout the year, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to charitable fundraising. A notable example is the October 2024 Disaster Relief Done Quick, which raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief following Hurricane Helene.
The AGDQ 2025 event in Pittsburgh showcased impressive speedruns, beginning with a swift Pikmin playthrough. The event's success significantly contributes to PCF's mission of early cancer detection, prevention, research, and community outreach. The collaboration between GDQ and PCF has generated over $26 million in donations over the years.
A standout moment was a creative Crazy Taxi speedrun. Addressing the challenge of copyrighted music, speedrunner Chuckles825 collaborated with a live band to provide a captivating performance that raised over $24,000.
The event concluded with a thrilling randomized Super Metroid race. GDQ will continue its fundraising efforts with Summer Games Done Quick 2025 in Minneapolis, benefiting Doctors Without Borders, starting July 6th.
