Alan Wake 2 is gearing up for a significant Anniversary Update on October 22, as shared by Remedy Entertainment. "We can’t believe it’s been almost a year since Alan Wake 2 was released. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has played the game and joined our fanbase and the Remedy community, whether you're a new member or a long-time fan," the studio expressed in their blog post.

This Anniversary Update, which will be available for free, is set to launch alongside The Lake House expansion. It introduces enhanced accessibility options such as infinite ammo and one-shot kills, making the game more enjoyable for a wider range of players. Additionally, players can now invert the horizontal axis settings, and there are updates to the DualSense functionality on the PS5, which will now feature haptic feedback for healing items and throwables.

The update also includes numerous quality-of-life (QoL) improvements that fans have been eagerly requesting. "Since the release of Alan Wake 2, our team has been tirelessly working on the Night Springs and The Lake House expansions, while also collecting and implementing your feedback into the game," Remedy stated. "We've compiled these enhancements into the Anniversary Update, aptly named as it coincides with the near anniversary of Alan Wake 2's initial launch."

Alan Wake 2 also introduces a new "Gameplay Assist" menu, offering toggles for various gameplay adjustments, including:

  • Weapon charging with taps
  • Healing items with taps
  • Lightshifter with taps
  • Player invulnerability

  • One shot kill
