South Korea's Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) has assigned a "19+" rating to Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The rating cites "excessive violence," "excessive profanity, profanity and swearing," and depictions of illegal substance use as reasons for the mature rating.

Hideo Kojima recently presented actress Shiori Kutsuna with flowers, acknowledging her contributions to the game. In a message, Kojima praised Kutsuna's dedication, noting her work on motion capture in Los Angeles, 3D scanning, and voice recording (both Japanese and English) across various locations, even navigating pandemic-related challenges. He expressed his gratitude for her "fantastic work." Kutsuna has reportedly been involved with Death Stranding 2 since Fall 2022.

At Tokyo Game Show 2024, Kojima showcased footage from Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, presenting several two-minute cutscenes. These scenes introduced and highlighted several key allies to the protagonist. Among them: George Miller as Tarman, captain of the mobile base Magellan, traversing tar lakes; Fatih Akin portraying Dollman, a living doll and former medium; and Léa Seydoux returning as Fragile. Elle Fanning plays Tomorrow, a mysterious character discovered in a location resembling the realm of the dead – a fitting parallel to the original Death Stranding's tagline, "Tomorrow is in your hands."

One notable scene features the characters singing Burt Bacharach and Hal David's "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head," interacting with a pregnant woman named Rainy, played by Shioli Kutsuna.
