EA's long-running mobile game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out, is nearing its end. After a twelve-year run, the city-building game, initially launched in 2012 on the App Store and 2013 on Google Play, will be sunsetted by Electronic Arts.
In-app purchases are already unavailable. The game will be removed from app stores on October 31st, 2024. However, existing players can continue playing until January 24th, 2025, when the servers will be permanently shut down. EA expressed gratitude to players for their decade-long support of the game, which allowed them to create their own versions of Springfield.
For those yet to experience the game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out offers a unique opportunity to rebuild Springfield after Homer's accidental catastrophe. Players manage the reconstruction, interacting with familiar characters like Marge, Lisa, Bart, and even Fat Tony, unlocking various outfits and expanding the town to Springfield Heights. The game also features the Kwik-E-Mart and frequently included updates related to the show and real-world holidays. While free to download, in-game currency ("donuts") fuels the gameplay.
If you're interested in a final playthrough before the servers go offline, download it from the Google Play Store. And don't miss our article on the upcoming mobile game, eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit!
