Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3: Story Complete, Full Steam Ahead!
Directors Hamaguchi and Kitase recently confirmed that the main storyline for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is complete, ensuring the trilogy remains on schedule. This exciting news follows the successful launch of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PC and its overwhelmingly positive reception.
In a Famitsu interview, the team revealed that development on Part 3 began immediately after Rebirth's completion and is proceeding without delays. Producer Kitase expressed satisfaction with the completed narrative, emphasizing its faithfulness to the original while delivering a satisfying conclusion. He confirmed that the script, entrusted to Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura, successfully achieved this goal.
Despite Rebirth's critical acclaim, Kitase and Hamaguchi admitted to initial anxieties about player reception. The positive response, however, boosted the team's confidence and created a positive atmosphere for the final installment. Hamaguchi's logical approach to game design, incorporating player feedback strategically, also contributed to Rebirth's success.
The developers also discussed the rise of PC gaming, acknowledging its influence on development strategies. Kitase highlighted the increasing development costs and the need to reach a broader audience, emphasizing the global accessibility of PCs compared to consoles. This shift is evident in the expedited PC port of Rebirth, reflecting a strategic response to market trends.
The team's experience with the first two installments has undoubtedly shaped their approach to Part 3. With the story complete and development progressing smoothly, fans can anticipate a timely release, potentially even a faster PC port than its predecessor. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is currently available on PC (Steam) and PlayStation 5, while Final Fantasy VII Remake is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC (Steam).
