Fortnite's Chapter 6 Season 1 update introduces a highly anticipated feature: using Fortnite Festival instruments as pickaxes and back blings. This is just one of several additions to the game that have been met with enthusiastic player response. December 2024 saw the launch of new game modes, including Ballistic, LEGO Fortnite: Brick Life, and Fortnite OG.
Fortnite Festival itself is a major game mode, offering a unique experience often compared to Guitar Hero. Players use various instruments to play songs, purchasing licensed music and instrument cosmetics from the Item Shop. Recently, Epic Games added local co-op to Fortnite Festival, enhancing the social aspect of the mode. The mode has also seen collaborations with major artists like Snoop Dogg, Metallica, and Lady Gaga.
Epic Games surprised players by allowing these previously Festival-exclusive instruments into the battle royale mode. Players can now select microphones, guitars, and other instruments as both back blings and pickaxes. An instrument selected as a pickaxe will disappear from the back when in use, reappearing upon switching items. This update also features a significant Hatsune Miku crossover, adding new outfits and instruments.
Players can quickly access the new instrument feature by sorting their back blings and pickaxes in their locker using the new "instruments" option. Existing instruments previously only usable as back blings or pickaxes have also been updated for use within Fortnite Festival, adding new interaction possibilities. This highly requested feature has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from the community.
The update also includes new cosmetics from the Fortnite x Godzilla collaboration. Players can choose between pink and blue edit styles for Godzilla outfits and unlock additional accessories like wraps, harvesters, and gliders through battle pass challenges. With a wealth of new content, Fortnite's latest update has generated significant excitement among players.
