Robert Eggers, fresh off his gothic horror film Nosferatu, is set to direct a sequel to the beloved fantasy classic, Labyrinth.

According to Variety, Eggers will helm this new chapter, penning the script alongside his The Northman collaborator, Sjón. This sequel replaces a previous attempt, stalled since 2023 with director Scott Derrickson attached. TriStar and Jim Henson Pictures have opted for Eggers' vision instead.

PlayThe original 1986 Labyrinth, starring David Bowie as the Goblin King Jareth and Jennifer Connelly, follows a young girl's journey into a fantastical realm to rescue her kidnapped brother, aided by Henson's iconic puppets.

Eggers' involvement extends beyond Labyrinth. He's also directing a werewolf film titled Werwulf, slated for a Christmas 2026 release. Set in 13th-century England and featuring dialogue in Old English, the film promises a chilling tale of transformation.

Nosferatu, Eggers' recent Christmas release, is a remake of F.W. Murnau's 1922 silent film. This 19th-century German-set story centers on a real estate agent whose dealings with a Transylvanian count unleash vampiric horrors.

Nosferatu garnered four Academy Award nominations: Cinematography, Production Design, Costume Design, and Makeup and Hairstyling. Read our Nosferatu review [here](insert link here).
