Leak: Ubisoft is developing Rainbow Six Siege 2 with improved graphics

A recent leak from an insider known as fraxiswinning suggests Ubisoft will unveil Rainbow Six Siege 2 at the Six Invitational 2025, scheduled for February 14-16 at the MGM Music Hall.

This purported sequel, codenamed Siege X, reportedly utilizes a revamped engine boasting enhanced visuals, including overhauled textures and character models. The source also claims that past temporary events from the original game may not return, with Ubisoft potentially focusing on entirely new event content. A projected release date places the game launch during the second season of the game's tenth year of support, meaning a mid-2025 release is anticipated.

This contradicts previous statements by Rainbow Six Siege creative director Alexander Karpazis, who previously indicated a full sequel wasn't necessary given the ongoing development of the current iteration. However, this leak suggests a potential change of heart at Ubisoft.

It's crucial to approach this information with caution. Until official confirmation from Ubisoft, all details remain speculative.

Meanwhile, the Six Invitational 2025, the Rainbow Six Siege World Championship, is rapidly approaching. Twenty teams will compete in Boston for a $3,000,000 prize pool and the championship title. Oxygen Esports, victors of the North American Last Chance Qualifier, secured the final qualifying spot.

The twenty-team tournament represents a unique structure. While Ubisoft might retain a similar format to last year—four groups with round-robin matches between five teams, followed by a double-elimination playoff—alternative formats remain a possibility. The anticipated playoff structure would see the top team receive a first-round bye, the fourth-place team entering the lower bracket, the remaining teams starting in the upper bracket, and the last-place team from each group eliminated.
