Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Building Anticipation
Mackenyu, renowned for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in the One Piece series, joins the Assassin’s Creed Shadows cast. He'll be voicing Gennojo, a key character in Ubisoft's feudal Japan-set game, in both Japanese and English. Ubisoft describes Gennojo as a crucial figure who assists the protagonist in eliminating a vital target.
"Gennojo is a charming, reckless, and deeply conflicted character, driven by guilt to dismantle a corrupt system," Ubisoft explains. "A flirtatious rogue and trickster, he walks a fine line with wit, deceit, and swagger. Motivated by a strong sense of justice, particularly towards the vulnerable, he’s willing to risk everything to achieve his goals."
While the exact timing of Gennojo's appearance remains undisclosed, his importance to the game's missions is confirmed. According to Mackenyu, Gennojo belongs to a group known as the "Shinobi League," and players can essentially recruit him as a companion throughout their journey.
