Marvel Rivals fans have just wrapped up their first weekend with the new playable characters, Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman. However, some players are struggling to take Reed Richards as seriously as the other heroes due to his inherently humorous nature.

Mister Fantastic, also known as Reed Richards, debuted with the launch of Season 1 on January 10, bringing his elastic abilities to the game as one of Marvel Rivals' first post-launch heroes. As a Duelist, his powers allow him to take long swings at one or multiple enemies, while also enabling him to expand his body and assume a tank role. A character capable of contorting his body into bizarre shapes naturally lends itself to meme culture. Comparisons to One Piece's Monkey D. Luffy, particularly due to Mister Fantastic's Elastic Strength ability, have already circulated widely. This has even inspired the modding community to create a One Piece custom skin, despite NetEase's recent crackdown on modding. The humorous aspect of turning into a rubber bodybuilder has been a hit, and some fans, like X/Twitter user @BOOMERANG_117, have creatively reimagined Reed Richards without his new beard.

While slightly unsettling, it's Mister Fantastic's Reflexive Rubber ability that has drawn the most laughs. This useful tool can reflect an enemy's damage back at them, but its execution looks almost too comical. When using the move, Mister Fantastic grows to the size of a refrigerator, which adds to the silliness.

Mr Fantastic has massive meme potential from marvelrivals

While it remains to be seen if Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman will become long-term favorites among Marvel Rivals fans, they've certainly made a strong impression during their debut weekend. As Season 1 progresses, players can look forward to the addition of the remaining Fantastic Four members, The Thing and Human Torch, in the second half of the season. When the rest of the team arrives, fans hope they'll make just as memorable an entrance.
