Marvel Snap Deck Guide: September 2024 Edition
This month's Marvel Snap (Free) deck guide arrives a little early to compensate for last month's delay. A new season brings new cards and shifts the meta. While last month saw a period of relative balance, the introduction of new cards, particularly those with the "Activate" ability, promises significant changes. Remember, today's top deck might be obsolete tomorrow! This guide offers a snapshot of current strong decks, but exploration and adaptation are key.
Most decks listed assume a complete card collection. Five top-tier decks are showcased, along with a couple of more accessible and fun options for players with smaller collections.
The recent Young Avengers card additions haven't drastically altered the meta, with exceptions like Kate Bishop and Marvel Boy. However, the new Amazing Spider-Season cards and the "Activate" ability are game-changers, foreshadowing a very different meta next month.
1. Kazar and Gilgamesh
Cards: Ant-Man, Nebula, Squirrel Girl, Dazzler, Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caeira, Shanna, Kazar, Blue Marvel, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird
This surprisingly strong deck utilizes low-cost cards synergizing with Kazar and Blue Marvel. Marvel Boy provides additional buffs, while Gilgamesh significantly benefits from the overall power boosts. Kate Bishop offers flexibility and cost reduction for Mockingbird.
2. Silver Surfer Still Reigns Supreme, Part II
Cards: Nova, Forge, Cassandra Nova, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Hope Summers, Nocturne, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Absorbing Man, Gwenpool
This refined Silver Surfer deck incorporates balance changes and new cards. Nova/Killmonger provides early-game boosts, Forge enhances Brood's clones, Gwenpool buffs hand cards, Shaw scales with buffs, Hope provides extra energy, Cassandra Nova steals opponent's power, and Surfer/Absorbing Man secures late-game dominance. Copycat replaces Red Guardian as a versatile tool.
3. Spectrum and Man-Thing Ongoing Strategy
Cards: Wasp, Ant-Man, Howard the Duck, Armor, US Agent, Lizard, Captain America, Cosmo, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Man-Thing, Spectrum
The Ongoing archetype remains competitive. Spectrum's final-turn buff complements the Ongoing abilities. Luke Cage/Man-Thing create a strong synergy, with Luke protecting against US Agent. Cosmo's utility is expected to increase. This deck is relatively easy to play.
4. Discard Dracula Domination
Cards: Blade, Morbius, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Corvus Glaive, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse
This classic Apocalypse-style Discard deck features the buffed Moon Knight. Morbius and Dracula are the key high-power cards, aiming for a final turn Apocalypse/Dracula combo. The Collector can provide unexpected advantages.
5. The Unstoppable Destroy Deck
Cards: Deadpool, Niko Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, Killmonger, Deathlok, Attuma, Nimrod, Knull, Death
The Destroy deck remains strong, with Attuma's buff making him a valuable addition. Focus on destroying Deadpool and Wolverine, utilize X-23 for extra energy, and finish with Nimrod or Knull. The absence of Arnim Zola reflects the increasing prevalence of counter-measures.
6. The Darkhawk Revival
Cards: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Niko Minoru, Cassandra Nova, Moon Knight, Rockslide, Viper, Proxima Midnight, Darkhawk, Blackbolt, Stature
This deck showcases the surprisingly competitive Darkhawk. Korg and Rockslide manipulate opponent's decks, while Spider-Ham and Cassandra Nova provide disruption. Discard effects and Stature's cost reduction add further strategic depth.
7. Budget-Friendly Kazar Combo
Cards: Ant-Man, Elektra, Ice Man, Nightcrawler, Armor, Mister Fantastic, Cosmo, Kazar, Namor, Blue Marvel, Klaw, Onslaught
A beginner-friendly version of the Kazar deck. While not as consistently powerful as the top-tier version, it provides valuable experience with the core combo mechanics, culminating in a potent Onslaught play.
The September meta is dynamic. The "Activate" ability and new cards will likely reshape the landscape by October. Keep an eye out for balance changes and continue to experiment! Happy Snapping!
