Medabot Survivors: Bullet-Hell Action for Medabots Fans, But Only in Japan (for now)
Medabot Survivors, a new bullet-hell action game based on the popular Japanese robot role-playing series, has launched in Japan for iOS and Android on February 10th. For those unfamiliar, Medabots enjoyed a surge in popularity following Pokémon's global success, though it never achieved the same Western recognition as franchises like Digimon.
However, Medabots maintains significant popularity in Japan, making a mobile title in the popular "Survivors" genre a natural progression. As reported by Gematsu, the game's current Japan-only release is disappointing for international fans.
A Growing Genre
While often associated with Vampire Survivors, the "Survivors" genre has a longer history. Medabot Survivors' release highlights the genre's global expansion, though many excellent Japanese games remain unavailable internationally. The game's success could potentially lead to a future Western release.
