Meta Quest 3S: Amazon's 2024 Best-Selling Console

The Meta Quest 3S achieved a remarkable feat in 2024, outperforming established gaming giants like Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch to claim the title of Amazon's best-selling console. This success is particularly noteworthy given its October launch.

This more affordable variant of the Meta Quest 3 boasts a lower price point, sacrificing some specs for accessibility. While VR remains niche, the Quest 3S's price and game library proved a winning combination, driving significant sales on Amazon.

Amazon's 2024 best-seller list places the Meta Quest 3S at #11 overall in the video game category, a strong showing considering the dominance of gift cards and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions. The PlayStation 5 Slim ranked #17, and the Nintendo Switch trailed at #53. Notably, Xbox consoles didn't feature in the top 80, although its peripherals did. The PlayStation 5 Pro was also absent. Only a Nintendo microSDXC card and the PlayStation DualSense controller ranked higher.

Enhanced VR Accessibility

Sony's PlayStation VR2 failed to make the list, highlighting a key advantage of the Meta Quest 3S: standalone functionality. This eliminates the need for external devices, enabling untethered movement and removing the requirement for a powerful PC or console.

Interestingly, the discontinued Meta Quest 2 secured #27, while the original Meta Quest 3 didn't appear in the top 80. This suggests a strong preference for lower-priced VR options. With the Nintendo Switch 2's 2025 release, the 2025 rankings will be fascinating. Nintendo's potential dominance depends on replicating the original Switch's success.
