Capcom has unveiled exciting new gameplay footage for their highly anticipated 2026 action game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The spotlight of this reveal is none other than the legendary swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi, who will lead the charge in this thrilling new installment.
During the PlayStation State of Play, Capcom showcased a captivating trailer that provided a fresh look at the gameplay of Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Although the game is slated for release in 2026, the sword-based action and formidable enemies promise an engaging experience.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword will feature Miyamoto Musashi, a renowned Japanese swordsman whose legendary prowess with the blade is brought to life in the game. Not only does Musashi exhibit unparalleled sword skills, but the trailer also highlights his roguish and comedic personality, adding depth to his character.
In their press release, Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game that stars one of Japan's most celebrated historical figures. Interestingly, Musashi's face in the game is modeled after the late, iconic Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune, who famously portrayed Musashi in samurai films.
Set in a Kyoto overrun by an evil force called Malic, which is summoning Hell and its denizens into Japan, Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades. To build anticipation, Capcom has also announced the release of a remastered version of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, set to launch on May 23, 2025.
