Oscar Isaac's Star Wars Celebration 2025 Appearance Fuels Poe Dameron Return Speculation
Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac's confirmed appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo (April 18-20) has ignited fan speculation about a potential return of his character, Poe Dameron. The announcement, made via the official Star Wars Celebration Instagram, follows Daisy Ridley's 2023 Celebration appearance, where she announced her involvement in a new Star Wars film.
The Sequel Trilogy concluded in 2019 with The Rise of Skywalker, leaving Isaac's feelings about returning to the franchise somewhat ambiguous. While initially expressing reluctance, stating in 2020 that he'd only return for "another house or something," he later told Variety in 2022 that he was "open to anything," indicating a shift in perspective.
Isaac's past criticisms of Disney, including their rejection of his proposed romance between Poe and Finn (John Boyega's character), have also added fuel to the speculation. Boyega himself has voiced past frustrations with Disney but has also expressed openness to future roles.
The possibility of a reunion of the Sequel Trilogy's main trio – Rey, Finn, and Poe – in the upcoming Rey film is now a significant topic of discussion. This film, set approximately 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, centers on Rey's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has already expressed her hope for Boyega's involvement, making Poe's return a logical next step to complete the core group.

While Star Wars Celebration 2025 might offer clues, definitive answers regarding Poe's return remain elusive. The ongoing delays of several announced Star Wars films, including the Rey film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, push the earliest potential release date to December 17, 2027. The anticipation, however, continues to build.
