Path of Exile 2's Endgame Rituals: A Comprehensive Guide

Path of Exile 2 introduces several endgame events, including Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revamped mechanic from previous PoE leagues. We'll cover initiation, mechanics, the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, the Pinnacle boss (King in the Mists), and the unique Tribute and Favour reward system.

Identifying and Initiating Ritual Events

Atlas Map Node with Ritual Icon

On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a red pentagram icon featuring a demonic face. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.

Once in a map with a Ritual, several Altars will spawn. Each map features a shared random modifier impacting enemies and mechanics. Modifiers might include massive rat waves or life-draining blood pools.

To begin a Ritual, interact with an Altar after noting its modifiers. A large circle will appear; remain within it to fight the summoned enemies. Leaving the circle prematurely ends the event with no rewards. A map is considered complete only after all Rituals are successfully finished.

Confronting the King in the Mists: The Ritual Pinnacle Boss

'An Audience With The King,' a unique currency item obtained from Favours, unlocks access to The Crux Of Nothingness and the King in the Mists. Slot this currency into your Realmgate on the Atlas to initiate the fight.

The King in the Mists' mechanics mirror his campaign counterpart. For practice, revisit Act 1 Cruel difficulty and create a new Freythorn instance. Defeating him grants 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at event-exclusive Uniques, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

Mastering the Ritual Passive Skill Tree

Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessible via the Atlas Passive Skill Tree screen (bottom right), enhances Ritual rewards. Nodes reduce Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and boost unique currency drop chances.

The tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Each King in the Mists victory awards 2 points; increased difficulty is mandatory for new Notable nodes.

Prioritize these Notable nodes: 'From The Mists,' 'Spreading Darkness,' and 'Ominous Portents' for increased rewards with minimal drawbacks. Subsequently, focus on 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' for improved Omen and 'King' encounter chances.

Notable Ritual Passive Skills:

Understanding and Utilizing Ritual Rewards

Completed Rituals grant Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for Favours (randomized items). More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock more Favours, including high-tier currencies and rare gear. 'An Audience With The King' is exclusively obtained through Favours.

Favours initially offer Magic items and low-level currencies, but progress unlocks Rare gear and high-tier currencies.

Omen currencies, powerful items improving other currency effects, are highly sought-after. They are consumed upon use. Examples include Omens of Annulment and Alchemy.

Beyond Tribute and Favours, Ritual enemies drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop event-exclusive Uniques.

All PoE 2 Omen Currencies:
