Atlus producer Kazushi Wada reiterates the unlikelihood of Persona 3 Portable's popular female protagonist (FeMC), Kotone Shiomi/Minako Arisato, appearing in Persona 3 Reload. This decision, explained in a recent PC Gamer interview, stems from significant development costs and time constraints.
FeMC Inclusion Deemed Infeasible
While initially considered during planning for Persona 3 Reload's post-launch DLC, Episode Aigis - The Answer, the inclusion of the FeMC proved too challenging. Wada stated that the required development time and budget were simply unmanageable. Even DLC implementation was deemed impossible within the current release timeframe.
Released in February, Persona 3 Reload is a complete remake of the 2006 JRPG. The omission of Kotone/Minako, despite considerable fan demand, remains a firm decision. Wada expressed his apologies to fans who hoped for her inclusion, stating it's highly improbable that it will ever happen.
This sentiment echoes previous comments to Famitsu, where Wada highlighted the substantially greater development time and cost compared to Episode Aigis, making the FeMC's addition an insurmountable hurdle.
The popularity of the FeMC in Persona 3 Portable led to widespread anticipation for her appearance in Persona 3 Reload, either at launch or as DLC. However, Wada's latest statements effectively dismiss this possibility.
