Among the most eagerly awaited game releases from last year, one that caught my attention was the upcoming Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage. The original Pirates Outlaws was a standout roguelike deckbuilder that hit the scene when the genre was still burgeoning, offering players a stylish and swashbuckling experience. Now, fans can look forward to its sequel, set to launch in the third quarter of this year.
Dubbed a "seaquel," Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage returns to the vibrant world of New Elysia, inviting players to embark on another thrilling journey across the high seas. Begin your adventure by selecting a character, a class ability, and a starting deck, setting the stage for an epic voyage.
In this sequel, players have the freedom to choose from multiple characters, each with seven distinct class options. This allows for extensive customization of your deck and the opportunity to recruit an animal companion, adding strategic layers to your battles. With enhanced turn-based combat and a new card evolution tree, Pirates Outlaws 2 equips you with an array of tools to dominate the seas.
**Run out the guns**
Pirates Outlaws 2 promises to be a significantly expanded sequel, offering players the ability to navigate freely across the map and explore numerous permutations and combinations of cards and characters. For PC gamers, an upcoming Steam demo will provide the first opportunity to experience Pirates Outlaws 2 firsthand.
While the animations in the reveal trailer appear somewhat static to me, I understand the challenges of fully animating detailed illustrations. I hope the final release will feature more dynamic visual effects when it launches on mobile later this year.
