The Pokémon Trading Card Game (PTCGO) Space Time Smackdown expansion, released January 30th, features a Weavile ex card whose artwork has sparked outrage among players. Specifically, the 2-Star full-art version depicts a group of Weavile poised to attack an unsuspecting Swinub. This brutal scene has generated considerable online discussion, with many expressing concern and disappointment. Reddit posts highlighting the artwork have garnered thousands of upvotes, with comments expressing empathy for the Swinub and highlighting the unexpectedly violent portrayal of Pokémon interactions.

The contrast between the Pokémon's inherent cuteness and the graphic depiction of predation has resonated strongly with fans. Some find the scene jarring, given the typically more lighthearted nature of Pokémon media. The "ecology" of the Pokémon world, as one fan noted, is often left to the imagination, making this depiction all the more striking.

However, some players offer a glimmer of hope, pointing to the Mamoswine full-art card as a possible happy ending. This card shows Mamoswine protectively watching over several Swinub, leading some to believe it depicts a successful defense against the Weavile.

The Space Time Smackdown expansion, themed around Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, includes 207 cards—smaller than Genetic Apex's 286 but with a higher percentage of rare alternate art, Star, and Crown rarity cards (52 compared to Genetic Apex's 60). The expansion features popular Pokémon like Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Weavile, and Mamoswine.

Despite the controversy surrounding the Weavile card and a previous trading update, Creatures Inc. has remained silent. While a "Trade Feature Celebration Gift" offering 500 Trade Tokens and 120 Trade Hourglasses was distributed, the developer hasn't publicly addressed player concerns or responded to requests for comment.
