A recent report from industry insider NateTheHate suggests that Halo: The Master Chief Collection is slated for release on both the PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This purported port, along with a potential Microsoft Flight Simulator release, is expected to arrive sometime in 2025.
Microsoft's initiative to broaden the availability of its first-party titles began in February 2024, with games like Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves leading the charge. As Dusk Falls, while not developed internally, also transitioned to multi-platform availability after an initial Xbox exclusivity period. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 followed in October 2024, with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle scheduled for a PS5 release in Spring 2025.
NateTheHate's report indicates that Halo: The Master Chief Collection, the six-game compilation, is among the titles planned for a PS5 and Switch 2 launch in 2025. The insider also hinted at a Microsoft Flight Simulator port, likely referring to the recently released MFS 2024, also targeting a 2025 release on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles.
This prediction aligns with comments from another reputable leaker, Jez Corden, who tweeted that significantly more Xbox games will be making their way to PS5 and Switch 2. Corden has consistently voiced his belief that the era of exclusive Xbox titles is nearing its end.
The future multi-platform expansion of the Call of Duty franchise is virtually guaranteed, given Microsoft's ten-year agreement with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo consoles. The absence of Switch titles to date might be attributed to Microsoft's anticipation of the more powerful Switch 2, better equipped to handle the demands of modern Call of Duty titles.
