Tarkov Update: 0.16.0.0 Patch Details Emerge

Escape from Tarkov's 0.16.0.0 update is here, bringing a massive overhaul to the game! While technical implementation is ongoing, Battlestate Games has unveiled a comprehensive changelog detailing new features and bug fixes, accompanied by a new trailer.

Highlights of Escape from Tarkov 0.16.0.0 Update

The update introduces the "Khorovod" event, featuring unique tasks and rewards, and a special game mode. Players must light and protect a Christmas tree in six different locations.

A major addition is the "Prestige" system, similar to Call of Duty. After reaching level 55, completing quests, and accumulating resources, players can reset their character, retaining some equipment and earning rewards unaffected by wipes. These rewards include achievements, cosmetics, and additional tasks. Currently, only two prestige levels are available, with eight more planned.

Other significant changes include:

• Engine Upgrade: Transition to the Unity 2022 engine.
• Frostbite Effect: A new status effect reducing vision and stamina when characters catch cold. Alcohol, warmth, and shelter offer relief.
• Winter Theming: Winter-themed enhancements and map adjustments.
• Customs Map Rework: Updated textures, new objects, and points of interest.
• New Weapons: Seven new weapons, including two assault rifles and a rocket launcher.
• Hidden Exfiltration Points: Require special items for access.
• New Questline: A new quest chain for the BTR Driver.
• Hideout Customization: Expanded hideout customization options.
• Continuous Healing: Implementation of continuous healing mechanics.
• Recoil Balancing: Recoil adjustments and visual improvements.
• Balance Changes and Fixes: Numerous balance adjustments and bug fixes.

The update coincides with the usual Escape from Tarkov wipe, meaning players will have plenty to explore once servers are live.
