Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been marked on the town map, but remained inaccessible until the game’s March 2025 update. Here's a detailed guide on how to access the Deep Woods and find Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*.

How To Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

Unlocking the Deep Woods involves breaking the Fire Seal and utilizing the new Dragon’s Breath spell to clear the vines blocking the entrance. To start, you must place four specific items on the Priestess’ Fire Seal altar located on Floor 60 of the mines: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. While the first three items can be found between floors 50 and 59, obtaining the Sealing Scroll requires teamwork with Juniper and Balor.

To help Balor acquire the Sealing Scroll, you'll need to deposit the following items in the bin by his wagon:

• x10 Silver Ingots
• x10 Rubies
• x10 Sapphires
• x10 Emeralds

Once you've provided these items, speak with Balor again, and he'll inform you that the scroll will be available the next day. After collecting the Sealing Scroll, you can complete the offering at the altar.

Typically, breaking magic seals rewards you with a few words from the mysterious Priestess and unlocks a new biome. However, this time, things take an unexpected turn. After the seal breaks, the Priestess urges you to leave before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. As your health depletes, Caldarus appears in his human form, rescuing you and retreating to his temple in the Deep Woods to regain his strength.

Caldarus then requests you to find him at his temple, gifting you the Dragon’s Breath spell. This spell is crucial for burning through the vines that hide the entrance to the Deep Woods. Additionally, it can uncover other hidden areas on the map. To use it, equip Dragon’s Breath from the pause menu and activate it while standing in front of the blocked entrance. This action will permanently unlock the Deep Woods and other obscured areas.

How To Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, you can locate Caldarus within his temple in the Deep Woods. The temple is situated north of the Eastern Road on your map. Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to access this area. Caldarus’ exact location is marked on your map, similar to other NPCs, and he can be found in the northeast corner of the Deep Woods.

To reach him, enter the Deep Woods and head right, using your axe to chop down a stump blocking your path. Continue north until you arrive at the temple, where Caldarus awaits inside.

Once the Deep Woods is unlocked, you can use the Dragon Statue on your farm to fast travel to the area and visit Caldarus. The teleportation costs just 10 Essence, making it a convenient and time-saving option compared to traveling on foot or horseback.

You can also interact with Caldarus through his statue, even if it's only in spirit.
