Baldur's Gate 3, despite being over a year old, continues to captivate players with its engaging gameplay, leading many to replay it multiple times. However, with Larian Studios moving on from the series, Hasbro now holds the reins of the franchise's future. Fortunately, fans won't have to wait long for updates.
Speaking at the Game Developers Conference, Hasbro's SVP of digital games, Dan Ayoub, revealed significant interest within Hasbro regarding the Baldur's Gate franchise. He hinted at upcoming announcements, stating that Hasbro is finalizing plans and will soon share details about the franchise's future.
While Ayoub remained tight-lipped about specifics—whether this involves a full-fledged Baldur's Gate 4 or a different approach, perhaps a crossover similar to the previous Magic: The Gathering collaboration—he confirmed Hasbro's ambition to eventually develop Baldur's Gate 4, acknowledging that such an undertaking would require considerable time. He emphasized a measured approach, stating that Hasbro isn't rushing the process and is exploring various options. He indicated that announcements are imminent.
Ayoub also acknowledged the immense pressure to deliver a successful next installment, a pressure that extends to other Dungeons & Dragons projects, including a previously announced game. He expressed confidence in Hasbro's ability to meet the challenge, believing that the high expectations will ultimately drive creativity and innovation.
The full interview with Ayoub, covering topics such as Magic: The Gathering, the partnership with Saber Interactive, and Hasbro's overall game strategy, will be published next week.
