Begin your journey by speaking with Botim, situated south of the Rinascita-Ragunna-Thessaleo Fells northern Resonance Beacon. He will explain the plight of the shadowed monsters infesting the three towers and offer rewards for their elimination, thus initiating the Shadow of the Past quest.

Thorncrown Rises Tower Locations

Three towers comprise this quest, each representing a sub-quest:

• Shadow of the Towers: Resounding Rise: Located northeast of Thorncrown Rises.
• Shadow of the Towers: Twilight Rise: Located south of Thorncrown Rises.
• Shadow of the Towers: Command Rise: Located southwest of Thorncrown Rises.

Shadow of the Towers: Resounding Rise

This sub-quest begins by interacting with Itzel, positioned east of the Resounding Rise Tower. The tower's exploration involves:

1. Entering a painting at the hallway's end.
2. Tracking and defeating an Abyssal Mercator.
3. Collecting supply chests in the northern, western, and eastern rooms.
4. Navigating a second painting encounter with an Abyssal Mercator.
5. Defeating additional enemies and collecting more chests.
6. Pursuing and defeating another Abyssal Mercator.
7. Following a final painting to a chest, eliminating enemies along the way.
8. Correctly arranging paintings within the tower (Top Left to Bottom Right, painting behind Top Left to Bottom Left, Top Right to Top Left, painting behind Bottom Right to Top Right).
9. Claiming a Premium Supply chest.
10. Finally, defeating a final Abyssal Mercator and collecting the Tidal Supply chest from Itzel. This weakens one barrier at the Command Rise Tower.

Shadow of the Towers: Twilight Rise

Proceed southeast to the Twilight Rise Tower and speak with Insula to commence this sub-quest. The steps are:

1. Following quest markers until encountering a time loop.
2. Investigating three marked locations for clues.
3. Speaking with Insula.
4. Entering a secret passage beneath the elevator.
5. Defeating an Abyssal Patricius.
6. Collecting a supply chest and continuing further.
7. Defeating a final Abyssal Patricius.
8. Speaking with Insula again.
9. Collecting the Tidal Supply chest.

Completing this weakens the second barrier at the Command Rise Tower.

Shadow of the Towers: Command Rise

After completing the previous two sub-quests, this sub-quest automatically begins. The steps are:

1. Speaking with Insula and Itzel at the camp northeast of the Command Rise Tower.
2. Using the Wingray to fly to the Command Rise Tower.
3. Entering the Tower and following quest markers.
4. Collecting supply chests along the way.
5. Utilizing the grapple to ascend the tower.
6. Defeating an Abyssal Patricius and collecting a chest.
7. Further utilizing the grapple and navigating moving libraries.
8. Collecting additional supply chests throughout the tower.
9. Locating and opening two Sonance Caskets: Ragunna.
10. Using the chandelier mechanism to reach the tower's peak.
11. Speaking with Insula and Itzel after discovering Liel's demise.
12. Using the portal to confront and defeat the final Abyssal Patricius, obtaining the Call of the Abyss Rectifier and a Premium Supply chest.

Exiting the tower via the portal and speaking with Insula and Itzel will reward you with the King of Thessaleo and Shadow of the Tower achievements.
