Microsoft has announced the next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd, 2025. This marks the first Xbox game showcase of the year.
While Microsoft has consistently hosted game showcases throughout the 2020s, the "Xbox Developer Direct" branding debuted in January 2023. A second event followed in January 2024. Continuing this pattern, the 2025 edition is set for January 23rd at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT. This announcement follows earlier rumors circulating around January 9th.
Microsoft has confirmed three games for the showcase. One is South of Midnight, a stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (creators of Contrast and We Happy Few). Announced in June 2023, a release date may finally be revealed.
Another confirmed title is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive. Targeting a 2025 release, it will be a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
Finally, id Software's Doom: The Dark Ages, announced in June 2024, will also be featured. A demo was playable at QuakeCon 2024, with a rumored mid-2025 launch.
These three titles are not necessarily the only games showcased. Previous Developer Directs lasted over 40 minutes and featured multiple games. For example, the 2024 event highlighted Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, and Visions of Mana. The 2025 event may hold further surprises.
