Tarneeb is a card game played by two teams, each consisting of two players sitting opposite each other. The game uses a standard 52-card deck, and play proceeds counter-clockwise. Each player bids on the number of "Allmat" (tricks) their team expects to win in a round.
The player who wins the bid declares "Tarneeb" and throws a type of paper onto the floor. Other players must then throw the same type of paper. The player who throws the matching paper first wins the trick ("Bamh"). If a player doesn't have the matching paper type, they forfeit their ability to call "Tarneeb". "Tarneeb" papers are the most powerful, and the player throwing them wins unless a stronger "Tarneeb" paper is played.
The round ends when all players have played their cards. Points are tallied. A team that successfully achieves or surpasses their bid for "Allmat" wins points; the opposing team receives no points. If a team fails to meet their bid, points are deducted from their score, and the opposing team gains points based on the number of "Allmat" they won.
If both teams obtain 13 tricks without bidding for 13, 16 points are added to the total score. If a team bids for and achieves 13 tricks, they receive 26 points. If a team bids for 13 tricks but fails to achieve them, 16 points are deducted.
The game ends when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more points; that team is declared the winner.
