Hotta Studios' upcoming 3D open-world RPG, Neverness to Everness, is gearing up for its first closed beta test. Unfortunately, this initial test will be exclusive to mainland China. While international players can't participate, they can still keep an eye on developments.
Gematsu recently highlighted some newly revealed lore, expanding on the game's setting and narrative. The trailers showcase the city of Eibon, offering a glimpse into the blend of the bizarre and the ordinary in Hetherau. This comedic tone and unique world-building are further emphasized in the new details.
Hotta Studios, a subsidiary of Perfect World (creators of the successful Tower of Fantasy), is venturing into a competitive market. Neverness to Everness, while fitting within the established 3D open-world RPG genre with its urban focus, boasts some distinctive features.
One standout feature is open-world driving. Players can cruise the city streets, customizing and purchasing various vehicles. However, realistic damage models mean reckless driving has consequences.
Upon release, Neverness to Everness will face strong competition from titles like MiHoYo's Zenless Zone Zero and NetEase's Ananta (formerly Project Mugen), both of which occupy similar niches in the mobile 3D open-world RPG space.
