Peni Parker, the latest Marvel Rivals themed card in Marvel Snap, arrives after Galacta and Luna Snow, bringing a unique twist to the ramp card archetype. Fans of the Spider-Verse films will recognize this character. Like Luna Snow, Peni Parker is a ramp card, but her mechanics add a layer of complexity.
Peni Parker costs 2 energy and has 3 power. Her ability is: "On Reveal: Add SP//dr to your hand. When this merges, you get +1 Energy next turn." SP//dr, a 3-cost, 3-power card, has the ability: "On Reveal: Merge with one of your cards here. You can move that card next turn."
This combination creates a powerful, yet initially confusing, effect. Essentially, Peni Parker adds a movable card (SP//dr) to your hand. Crucially, merging any card with Peni Parker grants you +1 energy on your next turn. This isn't limited to SP//dr; cards like Hulk Buster and Agony also trigger this bonus energy. The extra move provided by SP//dr, however, is only active the turn after merging and is a one-time effect.
Mastering Peni Parker requires time and practice. Her 5-energy cost for the merge and extra energy makes her a significant investment. However, she synergizes well with certain cards, most notably Wiccan. Here are some example deck lists:
Deck 1 (Wiccan Synergy): This deck includes Quicksilver, Fenris Wolf, Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, Peni Parker, Quake, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Red Guardian, Gladiator, Shang-Chi, Wiccan, Gorr the God Butcher, and Alioth. This deck is expensive, requiring several Series 5 cards (Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, Wiccan, Gorr, Alioth). The strategy revolves around playing Quicksilver and a 2-cost card (ideally Hawkeye or Peni Parker) to enable Wiccan's effect, allowing for the timely deployment of Gorr and Alioth. Other cards are flexible and can be swapped based on your meta and collection.
Deck 2 (Scream Move Strategy): This deck features Agony, Kingpin, Kraven, Peni Parker, Scream, Juggernaut, Polaris, Spider-Man (Miles Morales), Spider-Man (Cannonball), Alioth, and Magneto. This deck utilizes the Scream move archetype, requiring Series 5 cards like Scream, Cannonball, and Alioth (though Stegron could potentially replace one). This is a complex deck that involves manipulating your opponent's cards, requiring strategic foresight. The combination of Kraven and Scream secures lanes, while Peni Parker's merge allows for playing both Alioth and Magneto in a single turn.
Currently, Peni Parker may not be worth the Collector's Tokens or Spotlight Cache Keys. While she's a generally strong card, Marvel Snap's current meta offers stronger options. The combined cost of playing Peni Parker and SP//dr isn't impactful enough compared to other high-value plays. However, as Marvel Snap evolves, Peni Parker's value is likely to increase.
