Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege X: A Major Update, Not a New Game
Ubisoft recently unveiled Rainbow Six Siege X, not as a new game, but as a significant upgrade to the existing Rainbow Six Siege experience, celebrating its upcoming 10th anniversary. The announcement, made on February 17th, 2025, promises major gameplay enhancements and refinements.
March 2025 Showcase:
A dedicated showcase is planned for March 13th, 2025, at 10:00 am PDT / 1:00 pm EDT in Atlanta, Georgia. This event will detail the extensive changes coming with Siege X and include additional surprises. Limited in-person tickets ($10 USD) are available, including an exclusive shirt and in-game cosmetic pack, but require US/Canadian residency, age 18+, and a clean Rainbow Six Siege account. A VIP package giveaway (hotel, flight, event entry) is also being offered to two lucky US/Canadian residents.
The update promises "new ways to play, deepened tactical gameplay, refined game feel, and major upgrades." Specific details will be revealed during the March showcase.
10th Anniversary & Season 1: Operation Prep Phase:
Rainbow Six Siege, initially launched December 1st, 2015, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC (later ported to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S), is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Season 1, "Operation Prep Phase," launching March 4th, 2025, introduces a new operator, Aurora (deployable bulletproof doors), a new elite skin for Aruni, and a revamped reputation system.
Given the timing, the major Siege X upgrades will likely be implemented on live servers after the March 4th Season 1 launch. This extensive update promises to significantly extend the lifespan of the Rainbow Six Siege franchise.
