High-end prebuilt PCs often come with a hefty price tag, but savvy shoppers can still snag fantastic deals. Currently, Dell is slashing $1,000 off the Alienware Aurora R16 with a GeForce RTX 4090, bringing it down to $3,699.99. Considering the RTX 4090's rising prices and the fact that standalone cards are hovering around $2,000, building your own PC might not be as economical as you'd expect. Plus, with a prebuilt PC, you enjoy the benefit of an all-inclusive warranty.
Originally priced at $4,694.99, now save 21% and get it for $3,699.99 at Alienware. This powerhouse is loaded with an Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU, a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 64GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 4TB NVMe SSD. The 14th gen Intel Core i9-14900KF is the top-tier Intel gaming CPU available, excelling in productivity too. Known for running hot, it's effectively cooled by a robust 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler, and the system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.
The RTX 4090 is currently the most formidable GPU on the market, outpacing all competitors from both NVIDIA and AMD. In his review, Chris Coke praised it, stating, "The RTX 4090 may be huge and expensive, but holy smokes if it doesn’t blow the competition out of the water... Until the rest of the pack can catch up, between its impressive hardware specs and its DLSS 3 AI wizardry, even the $1,599 price doesn’t seem unreasonable for the unrivaled frame rates that this card can crank out." With this GPU, you can play any game at 4K with ultra settings and ray tracing enabled, delivering high frame rates even in the most demanding new titles like Black Myth: Wukong or Warhammer Space Marine 2. It's also the go-to card for AI applications, boasting 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM.
NVIDIA's next-gen GPUs, starting with the RTX 5090, are slated for release by the end of January. While the RTX 5090 promises superior performance, it comes with a steep price tag of $2,000 for the Founder's Edition, and availability might be limited. The RTX 5080 will launch at $999, but it may also face stock issues. We'll benchmark this card soon, but note it will have less VRAM (16GB) than the 4090 and might not fully eclipse its predecessor as the top GPU.
The R16 is Alienware's 2024 desktop design, 40% smaller than its predecessors. It features an efficient airflow system, drawing air in through side vents over the GPU and a 120mm front fan, and expelling it via a 120mm rear fan and two 120mm top fans. The 240mm radiator for the liquid cooling system is mounted to the top fans. While some models skip the liquid cooling, we recommend opting for it due to its superior performance over the stock air cooling. Dell unveiled a new Area 51 chassis at CES 2025, but its design closely resembles the R16.
