While many fans believed that Patch 7 would mark the end of major updates for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has exciting news: another substantial update is on the horizon for 2025. This update will not only bring crossplay support and a photo mode but will also introduce 12 new subclasses, each with unique mechanics that promise to enrich the gameplay experience.
Details about four of these subclasses have already been shared, and now we’re excited to explore the remaining ones:
The Oath of the Crown Paladin is dedicated to upholding justice and order, prioritizing the welfare of society. This subclass features the Divine Devotion ability, which not only absorbs incoming damage directed at allies but also restores their health, making it a formidable choice for those looking to protect and heal their team.
The Arcane Archer seamlessly blends martial prowess with arcane magic. Their enchanted arrows have the power to blind, weaken, or even exile enemies to the Feywild until the next turn. If an arrow misses its intended target, the Arcane Archer can skillfully adjust its flight path to strike another enemy, ensuring their shots never go to waste.
The Drunken Master Monk uniquely incorporates alcohol into their fighting techniques. Their signature move intoxicates foes, leaving them disoriented while simultaneously boosting the monk’s own abilities. Using Instant Sobriety on an intoxicated target not only sobers them up but also inflicts both physical and mental damage, adding a strategic depth to combat.
The Swarmkeeper Ranger harnesses the power of nature by forming alliances with swarms of creatures. These swarms provide a protective shield and assist with teleportation, enhancing the ranger's mobility and defense. In combat, they can deploy three types of swarms: electric jellyfish clusters that shock opponents, blinding moth clouds that disorient foes, and stinging bee legions that knock back enemies failing a strength check by 4.5 meters, making it a versatile and dynamic subclass.
