Lost Soul Aside's PC Release to Skip Controversial PSN Linking Requirement

Lost Soul Aside, the highly anticipated Sony-published action RPG, will reportedly launch on PC in 2025 without the controversial PlayStation Network (PSN) account linking requirement. This significant change expands the game's potential market considerably, as PSN support is unavailable in over 100 countries.

Developed by UltiZeroGames, Lost Soul Aside emerged from PlayStation's China Hero Project. This Devil May Cry-inspired hack-and-slash title has been in development for nearly nine years. While Sony publishes the game for both PS5 and PC, the company's previous mandate for PSN account linking on PC titles drew significant criticism. This requirement severely limited sales in regions without PSN access.

However, Lost Soul Aside appears to be breaking this trend. Following the December 2024 gameplay trailer release and the game's Steam page launch, the initial PSN linking requirement was swiftly removed, as evidenced by SteamDB update history.

Second Sony Title to Bypass PSN Linking

This decision marks the second time Sony has reversed its PSN linking policy for a PC game, the first being Helldivers 2. This reversal suggests a potential shift in Sony's approach to PC releases. The reasons behind this change for Lost Soul Aside remain unclear, but maximizing player reach is a likely factor. Previous PlayStation PC releases saw diminished player numbers after the PSN linking requirement was implemented; God of War Ragnarok, for instance, had significantly fewer Steam players than its predecessor. By removing this barrier, Sony aims to boost Lost Soul Aside's sales and overall success on the PC platform.
