Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs which halved the testing team's size.
These job cuts are a direct consequence of the game's poor reception and significant financial losses, estimated at $200 million by Warner Bros. The studio confirmed no further updates are planned for 2025, although online servers will remain active.
The downsizing wasn't limited to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. Games studio, also experienced substantial layoffs (99 employees) in December.
The game's troubled launch further exacerbated the situation. Early access players encountered numerous bugs, including server outages and a major plot spoiler. Negative reviews from prominent gaming publications and a massive 791% surge in refund requests (according to McLuck analytics) compounded the problems.
Rocksteady's future projects remain undisclosed.
