Will Wright, the visionary behind The Sims, recently unveiled more details about his new AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream. This innovative title, initially announced in 2018, is finally taking shape, promising a deeply personal gaming experience.
Developed by Gallium Studio, Proxi lets players transform their real-life memories into interactive, animated scenes within a unique game world. Players input memories as text, and the game's AI engine converts them into 3D environments. These "mems" can be customized using in-game assets for a more accurate representation. Each added memory trains the game's AI, expanding the player's "mind world"—a navigable 3D space composed of hexagons.
This mind world populates with Proxies—representations of friends and family—as more memories are added. Players can arrange memories chronologically and link them to specific Proxies, creating a dynamic and interconnected personal narrative. Remarkably, these Proxies can even be exported to other game platforms like Minecraft and Roblox!
Wright emphasized Proxi's focus on personal connection, stating that the game aims to create "magical connections with memories and bring them to life." He playfully acknowledged the inherent human fascination with oneself, commenting, "No game designer has ever gone wrong by overestimating the narcissism of their players." The more the game revolves around the player's experiences, the more engaging it becomes.
Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements expected soon.
