A simple, non-field RPG where you escape a cursed forest. This game focuses on a hunter's struggle for survival.
Prologue: You're the village's best hunter, drawn to a national hunting tournament near the royal capital. Arriving for the opening ceremony, you camp overnight, only to wake and find the forest eerily deserted – all other hunters vanished. The national guard, responsible for the tournament, is nowhere to be seen. Your attempts to return to the starting point are thwarted; the forest seems to warp, leading you back to the same locations. Your usually reliable sense of direction fails you, plunging you into the heart of the mystery.
The Elven Curse: Aided by Foria, a quarter-elf, your goal is to escape the cursed forest. Gameplay is streamlined with a maximum of three button commands at any given time.
Character Creation: While you can't manually customize your character, you can reroll stats repeatedly. Status increase rates upon leveling up are visible only on the character creation screen and cannot be checked in-game. This screen also serves as a return point. Game over occurs when your life force reaches zero and you have fewer than two "talismans."
Foria, the Peddler Quarter-Elf: A young (or seemingly young) quarter-elf encountered in the forest. Despite his childlike appearance, he claims seniority and offers cryptic assistance, drawing on the forest's ancient spirits to aid your escape.
Game World and Narrative: The prologue unfolds smoothly, akin to a picture story. Foria's dialogue maintains a cheerful tone, contrasting with the game's overall subdued and subtly suggestive atmosphere.
Exploration Mode: Progress is made by exploring unexplored areas. The success of each exploration attempt is influenced by "fog depth" and your character's stats. If your life force is depleted, use poison to restore vitality or, in certain situations, precious "talismans." You may need to return to Foria.
Encounters and Combat: The forest is home to aggressive creatures, from wolves and wild dogs to surprisingly hostile frogs and rabbits. Defeating them yields hides for trading with Foria. Unlike typical RPGs, combat doesn't grant experience points. Battles are entirely optional (though requiring either luck or strategic play). As a hunter, you use a bow and arrow. Maintaining distance allows you to attack safely, while closing the distance exposes you to attacks. You can use wound medicine at a distance, or choose between a strategic withdrawal (with a chance of success or failure based on your stats) or a guaranteed escape using a "flash" ball provided by Foria.
Cloak System: Foria crafts cloaks from gathered materials (branches, resin, leather). These cloaks, layered up to three times, enhance your abilities. However, the top layer can be damaged and eventually destroyed. This is the only equipment modification in the game.
