Concord: Fall 2024 Launch

Sony and Firewalk Studios unveil the post-launch roadmap for their upcoming hero shooter, Concord, launching August 23rd on PS5 and PC. Rejecting the battle pass model, Concord prioritizes rewarding gameplay through progression and in-game achievements.

A Content-Rich Future for Concord

Game director Ryan Ellis emphasizes the game's ongoing evolution, stating that launch is merely the beginning. Seasonal updates will introduce fresh characters, maps, game modes, storylines, and features. The initial roadmap promises a steady stream of content for the first year.

Season 1: The Tempest (October 2024)

Concord's first major post-launch update, "The Tempest," arrives in October, featuring:

  • A new playable Freegunner character.
  • A brand-new map.
  • Additional Freegunner Variants.
  • Expanded cosmetic options and rewards.
  • Weekly Cinematic Vignettes enriching the Northstar crew narrative.
  • An in-game store offering purely cosmetic items, enhancing customization without impacting gameplay balance.

Season 2 and Beyond (January 2025)

Season 2 is scheduled for January 2025, solidifying Firewalk Studios' commitment to regular seasonal content drops.

Strategic Gameplay and Crew Building

Ellis also offers gameplay insights, highlighting the "Crew Builder" system. Players construct teams of five unique Freegunners, with the ability to include up to three copies of any Variant. This system encourages diverse team compositions, leveraging the unique roles of each Freegunner (Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden) to unlock Crew Bonuses that enhance various aspects of gameplay. Unlike traditional shooter roles, Concord's Freegunners are designed for high damage output and effective combat. Strategic team building is key to maximizing effectiveness.
