Alan Wake 2 developers want to become “Europe's Naughty Dog”

Remedy Entertainment's ambition: To become the European Naughty Dog. Inspired by Naughty Dog's cinematic masterpieces like the Uncharted series, Remedy Entertainment, led by Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley, aims to establish itself as a leading European studio in the same vein. This aspiration, revealed in a Behind The Voice podcast interview, significantly shaped the development of both Quantum Break and Alan Wake 2.

Rowley explicitly stated their goal: "We should aspire to be the European version of Naughty Dog." This influence is clearly visible in Alan Wake 2's cinematic presentation, lauded for its stunning visuals and compelling narrative. The game's success has firmly cemented Remedy's position amongst Europe's top game developers.

Remedy's aspirations extend beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's dominance in the single-player cinematic game market, particularly with the critically acclaimed Uncharted and The Last of Us franchises (the latter being one of the most decorated in gaming history), serves as a clear benchmark.

Alan Wake 2, even over a year post-launch, continues to receive updates, enhancing gameplay across all platforms. A recent update notably optimizes the game for the PS5 Pro, introducing a new "Balanced" graphics option that cleverly combines the best aspects of the PS5 Pro Performance and Quality modes. These refinements, along with minor adjustments to graphic settings for smoother framerates and image clarity, also address several minor bugs, particularly impacting gameplay within the Lake House expansion.
