Capcom is optimizing Monster Hunter Wilds for improved performance and reduced GPU requirements before launch. A recent announcement on the German Monster Hunter Twitter (X) account highlighted performance improvements, particularly in the PS5's Prioritize Framerate mode, which boosts fps at the expense of some graphical detail. Similar optimizations are underway for the PC version, with a focus on lowering the recommended GPU requirements.
Currently, the minimum GPU requirements are an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. Capcom aims to make the game playable on lower-end hardware, expanding accessibility. A free benchmarking tool is also planned to help players assess system compatibility.
The initial open beta test in October and November 2024 revealed performance issues, including low-poly models and frame rate drops, even on high-end PCs. While some players found workarounds, these often compromised visual quality. Capcom acknowledged these problems, stating that improvements were made and that an afterimage issue would be resolved in the final release. A second open beta test, scheduled for February 7-10 and 14-17, 2025, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, will feature new monsters (including Gypceros) and may incorporate some of these performance enhancements.
The ongoing optimizations suggest that Monster Hunter Wilds will offer a smoother and more accessible experience at launch than was initially presented in the beta.
